Onshore renewable energy developer Bute Energy has announced the formation of its newly established Welsh Advisory Board.

Bute is developing a portfolio of Energy Parks across Wales that can provide over 3GW of onshore wind and solar power generation. Bute’s Energy Parks will invest in local communities through community benefit funds that will come online as the projects begin to generate electricity.

The Advisory Board will provide invaluable advice and guidance to Bute’s executive team, as well as advising on priorities for Bute’s community benefit funds and helping to promote a new generation of onshore wind and solar energy projects in Wales.

The Advisory Board will be chaired by the former senior Member of the European Parliament for Wales, Derek Vaughan CBE.

The three other Advisory Board Members are; one of Wales’s leading businesswomen, Dr. Debra Williams; John Davies, the former Leader of the Welsh Local Government Association; and John Uden, a community regeneration specialist.

Commenting on his appointment as Chair of the Wales Advisory Board, Derek Vaughan CBE, said:

“This is an exciting time to be involved in renewable energy in Wales, thanks to the determination and vision of the Welsh Government to move the country towards net-zero carbon emissions. As part of this shift, there will be a much greater reliance on renewable energy, including onshore wind and solar — and that’s where Bute Energy can play a crucial role.

“Wales is on the cusp of ‘green revolution’ and Bute Energy is well-placed to be at the forefront of this.

“More than ever before, the people of Wales are now more aware and concerned about what needs to be done to mitigate the damage caused by climate change. I am excited to be playing my part in addressing those concerns.”
